ASK THE AUTHOR:
TIMOTHY SHARKEY Published on Goodreads 05-05-2022 What’s your advice for aspiring
writers?
Timothy Sharkey: Master the language as much as possible. Good writing requires good sentences. Never write a bad (or incorrect) sentence. Make your sentences flow smoothly with music and rhythm. Study the masters. Write with precision—like Shakespeare. Master the different rhetorical techniques. Edit. Edit. Edit. and Simplify. Simplify. Simplify. What’s the best thing about being a writer? Timothy Sharkey: Crystallizing your ideas. Where did you get the idea for your most recent book? Timothy Sharkey: After teaching English 101 and English 102 classes in college for over 15 years, I decided to consolidate the best information about writing I had collected over the years and put the best of the best of that information into one book. I wanted to share my valuable information about writing with the public at large. I wanted to simplify writing as well so that more people could write successfully. I believe writing matters, and I wanted to show people how easy writing can be. |
